The Company

A leading Cyprus-based FMCG group with several subsidiaries operating across multiple sales channels. The group has grown substantially in recent years and continues to invest in infrastructure, automation, and digital transformation to support its growth.

Purpose of the Role

The CFO directs all financial activities of the company, including the development of financial strategy and related performance indicators, the design and monitoring of systems safeguarding company assets, and the preparation of accurate financial reporting. The role operates as a strategic partner to Management, contributing directly to the sustainable growth of the business.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Formulate and implement the company’s financial strategy in alignment with business objectives
  • Provide strategic financial recommendations to the CEO and Management to support business decision-making
  • Lead, guide, and develop the Finance team: setting objectives, evaluating performance, and supporting continuous professional development
  • Ensure compliance with tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations
  • Hold overall responsibility for the Finance Department and the effective management of all financial operations
  • Oversee preparation of financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS and applicable legislation
  • Prepare and monitor the annual budget and forecasts, analyse variances, and propose corrective actions
  • Monitor financial performance through KPIs and report to Management
  • Ensure effective management of liquidity, working capital, and cash flows
  • Manage relationships with banks, audit firms, insurance companies, and other external partners
  • Oversee credit control and collections, ensuring credit policy is applied and collections optimised
  • Monitor profitability by product, category, customer, and point of sale, recommending measures to improve results
  • Collaborate with Sales, Retail, and Supply Chain leadership to optimise financial performance
  • Oversee the operation of the group’s distribution and production facilities, ensuring efficient use of resources, adherence to approved procedures, and achievement of operational targets
  • Evaluate investments in infrastructure, equipment, automation, and process improvement projects
  • Monitor KPIs across warehousing, distribution, and production operations, recommending initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and customer service
  • Oversee inventory management from a financial perspective: cost, movement, and associated risks
  • Ensure proper application of internal controls, corporate governance policies, and risk management procedures
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely implementation of recommendations
  • Support digital transformation projects across financial systems, processes, and data-driven decision-making
  • Approve financial transactions in line with approved authorisation levels
  • Contribute to identifying business opportunities, evaluating investments, and securing the company’s long-term financial sustainability and growth

Qualifications

  • Member of a recognised professional accounting body (ACCA, ACA, or equivalent) — Essential
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field — Essential
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek and English — Essential

Experience

  • Minimum ten years’ experience in a CFO position — Essential
  • Previous experience in FMCG, food and beverage, retail, wholesale distribution, or manufacturing — Essential, with exposure to multi-site operations such as warehousing, distribution fleets, or production/packing units a strong advantage
  • Solid ERP systems experience — Desirable. Candidates who have led an organisation through a full ERP implementation or wider digital transformation will have a distinct advantage, as the group is currently undertaking a new ERP project
