Emerald Zebra on behalf of our client, an international maritime group, is looking to hire a Chief Financial Officer to be based in Limassol, Cyprus. Reporting to the CEO and Owner, this is a Group wide role covering all companies, subsidiaries and business units.

Our client operates across maritime services, salvage and emergency response, offshore operations, maritime security, technology and insurance, and is growing internationally.
The role
The Chief Financial Officer will lead the Group finance function and advise the CEO and Owner on financial strategy, performance and business decisions. You will oversee financial planning, reporting, cash flow, funding and controls across all Group entities, supporting international growth while keeping hands on oversight of daily financial management.
Financial strategy and business support
- Develop the Group financial strategy and advise on growth, funding needs, investments and financial risks
- Provide financial analysis for commercial decisions and set performance targets across entities
- Evaluate expansion plans, new business initiatives and opportunities to improve profitability
Budgeting and financial reporting
- Lead annual budgets, business planning and regular forecasts across the Group
- Deliver timely consolidated financial statements and management reports, including P and L, balance sheet and cash flow
- Analyse performance against budget and present findings and corrective actions to the CEO, Owner and Board
Cash flow and treasury
- Manage liquidity, working capital, cash forecasts, banking relationships and financing arrangements
- Oversee receivables, collections, payables and payment controls, and manage foreign exchange exposure
Commercial and project finance
- Partner with commercial and operational teams on pricing, tenders, contract reviews and project margins
- Set project budgets and monitor expenditure, billing and collections, including urgent salvage and emergency mobilisation costs
Funding, investments and acquisitions
- Lead financial preparation for fundraising and prepare models and reporting for lenders and investors
- Evaluate acquisitions and partnerships, coordinate financial due diligence and support negotiations
- Oversee the financial integration of acquisitions and newly established entities
Controls, audit and compliance
- Establish Group financial policies, approval procedures and internal controls
- Oversee statutory accounts, external audits and reporting requirements
- Coordinate tax planning and filings with local teams and advisers, and oversee intercompany transactions and balances
Finance team and systems
- Lead and develop the finance team, with clear responsibilities across entities and locations
- Improve accounting systems, reporting tools and processes for consistent, reliable financial data
- Work closely with commercial, operational, legal, HR and compliance teams
What you bring
- Maritime industry experience, which is required for this role
- Based in Cyprus
- A degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline, with ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or an equivalent professional qualification
- Significant senior finance leadership experience, ideally as CFO, Finance Director or Head of Finance in an international business
- Experience managing multiple entities, consolidated reporting, budgeting, cash flow, financial modelling and internal controls
- Experience with banking, financing and investor reporting; fundraising and acquisition experience is an advantage
- Exposure to offshore, salvage, technology, insurance or other project based businesses is an advantage
- Strong commercial judgement, leadership and communication skills, with a hands on approach and high standards of integrity
The role in practice
You will work directly with the CEO and Owner to turn financial information into practical decisions, respond promptly to operational funding needs, challenge assumptions constructively and build finance processes that support growth.
The salary range starts at EUR 80,000 per annum, depending on the candidate’s experience. The salary is negotiable for candidates with particularly strong and relevant experience.
