Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Compliance Officer / AML & Responsible Gaming Officer to join the team in Cyprus.

The role will be responsible for building, maintaining, and monitoring the company’s compliance framework across AML, KYC, Responsible Gaming, player protection, internal policies, regulatory procedures, and operational controls.

This is a key position within the business. The candidate must be able to work closely with Risk, Payments, Support, CRM, Product, and Management teams to ensure that the company operates in line with internal policies, licensing requirements, AML standards, responsible gaming principles, and player protection obligations.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of iGaming compliance, AML/KYC procedures, risk escalation, responsible gaming controls, and multi-product online gaming operations, including casino, live casino, sportsbook, racing, virtual games, mini games, and e-sports.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal compliance policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Oversee AML, KYC, EDD, Responsible Gaming, player protection, and regulatory compliance processes.
  • Ensure that internal procedures are aligned with licensing requirements, AML standards, and company risk appetite.
  • Review and update company policies related to KYC, AML, sanctions screening, PEP checks, source of funds, source of wealth, enhanced due diligence, responsible gaming, self-exclusion, limits, and player account restrictions.
  • Work closely with the Risk team on escalated cases involving suspicious activity, high-risk players, AML concerns, responsible gaming red flags, fraud indicators, and unusual transaction patterns.
  • Support the Payments team with compliance-related checks on deposits, withdrawals, chargebacks, refund cases, and suspicious payment behaviour.
  • Review high-risk player cases and provide compliance decisions or recommendations.
  • Monitor player behaviour from a compliance and responsible gaming perspective.
  • Ensure proper handling of self-exclusion, cooling-off periods, deposit limits, loss limits, wagering restrictions, and other responsible gaming controls.
  • Prepare and maintain internal compliance documentation, case records, audit trails, and decision logs.
  • Support the creation and improvement of internal workflows for KYC verification, withdrawal reviews, AML escalations, and responsible gaming interventions.
  • Conduct internal compliance checks and identify gaps in existing processes.
  • Train internal teams on AML, KYC, Responsible Gaming, escalation procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Work with Product and Tech teams to ensure compliance requirements are properly implemented in platform features.
  • Review promotional mechanics, bonus rules, and player communication from a compliance and responsible gaming perspective.
  • Support management with compliance reporting, internal audits, licensing-related requests, and regulatory documentation when required.
  • Keep up to date with relevant iGaming compliance trends, AML requirements, and responsible gaming best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in Compliance, AML, KYC, Responsible Gaming, Risk, or Player Protection.
  • Experience in iGaming, fintech, payments, crypto, banking, or other regulated online industries.
  • Strong understanding of AML, KYC, EDD, PEP/sanctions screening, transaction monitoring, and suspicious activity escalation.
  • Good understanding of Responsible Gaming principles and player protection procedures.
  • Ability to write, update, and implement internal policies and procedures.
  • Experience working with Risk, Payments, Support, CRM, Product, and Management teams.
  • Ability to review complex player cases and make well-documented compliance decisions.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of online payment flows, withdrawals, deposits, chargebacks, and suspicious transaction patterns.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of compliance processes.
  • High level of confidentiality, responsibility, and professional judgment.

Nice to Have

  • Previous experience with an iGaming operator.
  • Experience with casino and sportsbook compliance.
  • Understanding of licensing requirements in offshore or international iGaming jurisdictions.
  • Experience preparing compliance documents for licensing, audits, or internal reviews.
  • Knowledge of bonus terms, promotion rules, wagering requirements, and player communication compliance.
  • Experience with KYC providers, AML tools, sanctions screening tools, payment gateways, and back-office platforms.
  • Understanding of affiliate traffic risks and high-risk player segments.
  • Basic understanding of GDPR and data protection principles.
  • Experience building compliance processes from scratch or improving existing frameworks.

The candidate should be able to identify compliance gaps, create clear policies, train internal teams, support Risk and Payments with escalated cases, and make sure that AML, KYC, Responsible Gaming, and player protection processes are properly followed across the business.

This person should understand the balance between business growth, player experience, regulatory obligations, and risk control.
