Emerald Zebra is partnering with an international, regulated financial services group to appoint a Head of Crypto / Digital Assets at their Limassol, Cyprus office (onsite) . This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with full ownership of the firms crypto strategy and execution.
The successful candidate will lead and scale a growing digital assets business line, combining commercial acumen, deep crypto market expertise, strong technology understanding, and regulatory discipline. This role suits someone who thrives in building environments and can bring structure without slowing momentum.
The Role
As Head of Crypto / Digital Assets, you will take end-to-end ownership of the crypto function, from strategy through to operational delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the crypto and digital assets strategy across commercial and operational dimensions
- Lead the development and enhancement of crypto products and services, including:OTC trading, On/Off-ramp solutions, Wallet and Custody flows (final scope will depend on your strengths and the current build stage)
- Ensure robust governance, controls, and regulatory alignment: AML / CTF, Sanctions, KYC / KYB, Transaction monitoring and audit trails
- Work closely with technology teams and vendors on Platform integrations and APIs, Security and access controls, System reliability and scalability
- Build and manage strategic partnerships, including: Liquidity providers, Banking and PSP partners, Custody and infrastructure providers
- Establish clear operating rhythm: KPIs and performance tracking, Reporting cadence, Prioritisation and accountability
Your Profile
Must-have Experience:
- Deep, hands-on crypto experience
- Proven background in digital assets environments such as exchanges, OTC desks, custody, institutional crypto, crypto payments or DeFi
- Strong understanding of technology and digital product development, including:
- Platform and API-driven thinking (Vendor integrations, Core security principles)
- Comfortable leading technical discussions and translating business requirements into execution with software development teams
- Solid understanding of crypto compliance and risk, including regulatory expectations, controls, evidence, and operational processes
- Proven ability to build and scale functions, not just maintain them
- Clear, direct communicator with a strong delivery mindset
Preferred Experience:
- Background in regulated financial services (payments, EMI, banking, fintech) with crypto exposure
- Multi-jurisdiction operational experience
- Experience working with institutional clients and B2B partnerships
