Risk Officer

A leading company in the gaming and betting industry is seeking a Risk Officer to join its team in Nicosia. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about risk analysis, fraud detection, and operational security.

As the deputy to the Head of Risk Operations, the Risk Officer will play a crucial role in monitoring, analyzing, and mitigating risks, ensuring the company’s exposure is minimized while maintaining seamless operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and approve bets based on customer profiles and risk levels
  • Profile Class A and Class B clients, tagging high-risk customers and adjusting limits accordingly
  • Analyze betting activity and adapt customer limits to mitigate potential risks
  • Handle customer limit requests, classifications, and ticket approvals
  • Identify fraudulent activity and take appropriate action, including transaction approvals, account blocking, and further checks
  • Investigate suspicious alerts and apply proper risk mitigation strategies
  • Assess sportsbook weaknesses based on customer activity and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Ensure accurate and timely bet approvals according to customer profiles
  • Analyze customer profitability and prepare reports on risky behavior
  • Monitor VIP customer activity and adjust strategies accordingly
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including Customer Support, to enhance risk management processes
  • Oversee event and player limits, ensuring accurate adjustments and compliance with providers
  • Manage betting conflicts between agents and the company
  • Lead and coordinate ad hoc risk-related projects

Requirements:

  • BA degree in a relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in risk management, preferably in the betting or gaming industry
  • Fluency in Greek and English (written & spoken)
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and attention to detail
  • Able to work on shifts from 08:00 a.m. 1:00 a.m. including weekends (on average 2 weekends per month)
