Legal Advisor – Regulatory Compliance (MiFID/MiCA)
Location: Limassol or Nicosia, Cyprus (Hybrid: 2 days/week in-office)
Emerald Zebra is seeking a Legal Advisor – Regulatory Compliance on behalf of a prestigious client operating within the digital asset industry since 2018. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of financial innovation, ensuring compliance with EU financial regulations, including MiFID and MiCA, while supporting the development and launch of cutting-edge digital asset products.
About the Role
The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with product, compliance, and external stakeholders to ensure that all products and services align with local CySEC and EU regulations, with a strong emphasis on MiFID II, MiCA, and other applicable frameworks.
This role will also involve representing the organization in communications with regulators, external partners, and other key stakeholders, contributing to regulatory compliance and product success.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to MiFID II, MiCA, and other relevant EU regulatory frameworks, with a focus on financial instruments, digital assets, and crypto services.
Licensing & Authorization: assist with the processes for filing investment firm licenses under MiFID and contribute to authorization as a cryptoasset service provider under MiCA. Policy Development: Draft, review, and update policies, procedures, terms, and conditions for MiFID and MiCA-regulated products. Implementation: Support cross-departmental implementation of MiCA and other regulatory requirements, delivering projects under tight deadlines.
Stakeholder Engagement:Represent the company in communications with regulators and external counsel, ensuring compliance and developing strong relationships. Marketing Compliance: Review marketing and sales materials to ensure alignment with applicable regulations.
Legal Guidance: Provide proactive, solution-oriented legal and regulatory advice to internal stakeholders to mitigate risks while maximizing commercial opportunities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- To have successfully passed the Cypriot BAR 3-5 years of PQE Experience Leading law firm credentials or previous experience working in fintech
- Recent experience in financial product legal and regulatory work, preferably within MiFID-regulated entities or major law firms.
Strong knowledge of EU financial law, including MiFID IIand a familiarity with MiCA regulations. - Experience with license processes and regulatory filings under MiFID and other frameworks.
Skills:
- Strong verbal and written communication in Englishand Greek.

- Ability to balance high volumes of work and competing priorities.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to propose actionable solutions.
