General Manager / Executive Director – Digital Asset Boutique
Location: Cyprus (Hybrid Limassol/Nicosia)
Emerald Zebra is working closely with a pioneering digital asset boutique operating since 2018. As the firm enters an exciting phase of growth and regulatory expansion under the EU MiCA framework, we are seeking a dynamic and driven General Manager / Executive Director to lead Cyprus operations.
This is a critical leadership opportunity for an experienced financial services professional with exposure to crypto and a solid background in asset management, investment advisory, or trading. The ideal candidate will be deeply motivated by the opportunity to shape a growing business and build high-performing teams within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Business Scaling
- Lead the Cyprus operations, setting the strategic vision and executing business plans in alignment with group strategy.
- Drive the operations in Cyprus from early-stage to structured growth, including talent acquisition and organizational development.
- Refine and implement business models that align with regulatory shifts and market evolution in the digital asset space.
- Act as the key bridge between Cyprus operations and broader group leadership.
MiCA Licensing & Regulatory Oversight
- Take ownership of the MiCA license setup and rollout in Cyprus, ensuring full regulatory compliance with EU and local frameworks (e.g., MiCA, MiFID).
- Establish and oversee strong internal controls, risk management frameworks, and compliance monitoring systems.
- Ensure timely reporting and audit readiness.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless workflows, operational efficiency, and high-quality service delivery.
- Champion the implementation of systems, tools, and processes to support scalability and regulatory robustness.
Financial Management
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance tracking for the Cyprus office.
- Identify cost optimization and revenue generation opportunities, including strategic investments in technology and innovation.
Team Leadership & Culture
- Build, inspire, and manage a high-performing local team, fostering a culture of ownership, agility, and collaboration.
- Provide hands-on leadership while supporting team development, training, and career growth.
Stakeholder Engagement & Market Presence
- Represent the company with regulators, investors, partners, and clients.
- Attend and speak at industry events, strengthening the company’s thought leadership and brand in the digital asset and fintech ecosystem.
Innovation & Business Development
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify new opportunities for product and service innovation.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to develop and launch new digital asset offerings.
Background and Experience:
- Crypto & Financial Services Expertise: Exposure to digital assets and crypto markets, combined with a strong foundation in asset management, investment advisory, or trading.
- Leadership & Scale-Up Experience: Proven track record in building and scaling teams/businesses from early-stage to maturity, ideally within a regulated environment.
- Regulatory Understanding: Solid understanding of EU financial regulations, particularly MiCA and MiFID.
- Strategic & Operational Acumen: Strong strategic thinking with hands-on operational leadership.
- Entrepreneurial Drive: Self-motivated and energetic, with a passion for innovation and the resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth setting.
- Excellent Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to represent the business externally and collaborate internally across departments.
