Senior Accountant – Digital Assets
Location: Limassol or Nicosia, Cyprus (Hybrid: 2 days/week in-office)
Emerald Zebra is seeking a Qualified ACA/ACCA/CPA Senior Accountant – Digital Assets on behalf of a leading boutique digital asset company. This position offers a fast-track opportunity to Head of Accounting and Finance, giving you the chance to play a key role in the financial operations of a company at the forefront of innovation in the digital asset space.
About the Role
As a Qualified Accountant reporting to the group CFO, you will oversee and manage the accounting, reporting, and financial analysis of digital asset transactions, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and industry best practices. You will provide financial insights that support the companys growth and ensure transparency for audits, while working closely with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Analysis
Prepare and deliver accurate financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, with a focus on digital assets. Monitor and report on digital asset holdings, gains/losses, and other key financial metrics. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local tax regulations related to digital assets companies and specifically MiCA
Transaction Tracking & Reconciliation
Monitor and reconcile digital asset transactions across wallets, exchanges, and other platforms. Maintain accurate transaction records and ensure consistency across traditional financial systems and bank accounts.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
Prepare tax reports for digital asset transactions, ensuring compliance with local and international tax laws. Work with external tax advisors and auditors to ensure all digital asset tax obligations are met. Provide guidance on tax implications of portfolio rebalancing, staking rewards, and digital asset conversions.
Ledger Management & Controls
Maintain the general ledger for digital assets and oversee detailed records of all transactions. Implement and monitor internal controls for accurate tracking and recording of digital asset activities.
Audit & Internal Controls
Prepare for external audits, ensuring financial records are audit-ready and compliant. Develop and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure accuracy in digital asset accounting.
Industry Knowledge & Collaboration
Stay current with blockchain technologies, digital asset trends, and evolving regulations. Analyze emerging digital asset projects and technologies for potential financial impact. Collaborate with finance, operations, risk and compliance and product teams.
Requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics ACA/ACCA/CPA Qualified
Minimum of 3 years of professional accounting experience(PQE) within a CySEC regulated environment, ideally with at least 1-2 years focused on digital asset or cryptocurrency accounting.
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance as they apply to digital assets.
Proficiency in accounting software and familiarity with platforms used for digital asset accounting (e.g. Advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large, complex datasets.
Knowledge & Experience
Familiarity with blockchain technology, digital asset marketsand related regulations i.e. MiFID II, MiCA.
Experience managing general ledger systems for traditional and digital assets.
Understanding of internal controls, risk management, and audit preparation.
Soft Skills
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek.
Proactive and capable of working independently or as part of a collaborative team.
