Senior Accountant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced accountant to join the Finance team of Hospitality Venture, based in Limassol.

Our client is the leading investor in the hospitality and real estate sector, with a portfolio consisting of luxury hotel complexes and state-of-the-art developments in Cyprus and abroad. The company owns and manages prominent luxury hotels, resorts and real estate in Cyprus & Greece.

The accountant will support the Finance Manager with regards to bookkeeping, accounting, tax, VAT, management & financial reporting, financial and administrative activities of the Group.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Finance Manager in Group Financial Reporting, encompassing consolidation of Groups entities financial statements under IFRS on a quarterly basis, according to Groups deadlines
    Preparation of Groups consolidated management accounts and cash flow reports on a monthly basis
  • Monitoring cash and preparing weekly cash balances report
  • Liaising with subsidiaries financial controllers and third-party service providers to ensure timely and accurate provision of financial reports and management accounts
  • Review monthly trial balances and management accounts
  • Responsible for the accounting function of the holding company ensuring accurate recording of transactions and bookkeeping on a monthly basis
  • Identification and automation of time-consuming manual processes in the accounting and financial reporting function, including the introduction and implementation of a new ERP system
  • Co-ordinating with Group auditors to ensure timely and efficient completion of the Group entities statutory audits to the set deadlines
  • Assist Finance Manager in the preparation of parent companys annual operating budget
  • Preparing weekly payment run and ensuring suppliers are paid on time and according to budget
  • Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of invoices received, ensuring they are issued to the correct entity within the group and adhere to contractual agreements, challenging discrepancies as necessary
  • Keep the companys petty cash, perform timely cash count and cash reconciliation
  • Assist Finance Manager in tax planning and compliance, liaising with tax consultants and auditors to ensure the Group is fully compliant with tax laws, while its tax liability is minimized
  • Assist in preparation of VAT and other tax returns as stipulated by tax legislation
  • Assist in the review and provision of Know Your Customer (KYC) documents as may be requested from external service providers
  • Relationship with account banks including updating company information, revising the bank mandate as necessary and providing any information requested by the banks
  • Involvement with any corporate or group restructuring or similar work (including new entity set-up, old entity dissolution, centralizing operation of Finance function etc.)
  • Assisting Finance Manager to ensure that financial targets and KPIs specific to the Finance function are met (operation within budget constraints; timely payments to suppliers; timely submission of statutory and tax filings with zero fines; timely communication of issues)
  • Preparation of ad hoc reports and analysis as required by the Finance Manager or the Group CFO
  • Reporting to the Groups CFO and Finance Manager

Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant, with Big 4 audit training and minimum 4 years of post-qualification experience within a structured environment
  • Consolidation and financial reporting experience under IFRS is essential.
  • Confident user of ERP softwares
  • Proficient user of Microsoft MS Office and Excel in particular
  • Excellent command of English, both written and spoken
  • Organised and pro-active attitude with a drive for results
