Location: Dubai-Bishkek

Previous experience as CFO of a bank is highly sought for this role. 

Our client is a Dubai-based company with a significant presence in Central Asia, with a portfolio of 7 thriving enterprises. Their core focus is the execution of large-scale investment projects, including the establishment of innovative energy sources. As one of the leading private equity investors in Central Asia, the group is dedicated to  growth and innovation in the region.

Your Opportunity:

We invite you to be a vital part of our clients team, serving as the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) based in Dubai with travel to Asia. We are in search of a strategic and entrepreneurial finance executive with a solid background in banking, particularly in the fintech start-up and scale-up domains. As the CFO, you will play a pivotal role in driving  growth, managing investor relations, crafting business plans, and leading the finance team to develop a robust and scalable financial operating model.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Supervise accounting and financial operations, ensuring transparency and the timely preparation of financial statements.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies that foster revenue and profit growth, providing strategic insights to the board while maintaining high-level accounting standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the CEO on fundraising initiatives, financial communications, investor relations, capital structure, due diligence, and negotiations.
  • Identify and assess potential inorganic growth opportunities, actively participating in M&A transactions aimed at delivering tangible value.
  • Conduct thorough risk management through the analysis of company liabilities and investments, and oversee capital structure.
  • Manage the consolidation process, ensuring compliance with local and IFRS standards for all consolidated financial statements.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks, coordinate audit processes, ensure compliance with financial regulations and laws, and engage in negotiations with investors, suppliers, and banks.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with stakeholders, potential partners, including banks, financial institutions, advisory firms, investors, and relevant government entities.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, cost structures, and profitability analysis to support business development efforts.
  • Continuously enhance financial processes and systems, providing leadership and guidance for the finance function.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelors or masters degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from a prestigious university. MBA, CMA, CPA, or CFA qualification highly preferred.
  • Over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, with a significant track record as a CFO within fintech, banking, and ecommerce, with a focus on banking. Experience as CFO of a bank is highly sought for this role.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, investor relations, and M&A activities, particularly within a B2B PE-backed environment.
  • Fundraising experience post-Series B & C, previous involvement in leading a business through a trade sale or IPO exit is desirable.
  • Familiarity with Open Banking and PSD2 is beneficial but not mandatory, as is an understanding of Open Banking regulations worldwide.
  • Strong network and deep knowledge of financial markets and the business landscape, with the ability to build partnerships.
  • Experience with listings and working with international banks is advantageous.
  • Russian language skills advantageous
